I was recently speaking with a new client that was having indoor pest issues and her concern was “I haven’t had bugs in my home since I moved in a few years back and I keep a clean home, why are these pests coming in now?”
This is quite common and while you may not have had to deal with them in the past, there may be many environmental factors that are allowing certain pests refuge into your home now.
These may be:
- Weather related (cold as well as hot/dry weather brings insects seeking water and/or shelter inside)
- Recently updated landscaping (disturbs below ground nesting sites)
- Leaving windows open in cooler months
- New home construction or additions nearby might also displace pests or rodents from their normal environment
We recommend regular maintenance checks of areas around home perimeter. Check for torn window screens or even loose weather-stripping. Look for open spaces near pipes or vents. You can use caulk to fill small cracks or even steel wool for larger gaps.
South Texas weather can change in an instant and our winters are usually unpredictable so we tend to see pests more often than our northern friends. Call Bio-Tech for more information on how to keep your home pest-free.
